Welcome to Kind Human Yoga, right here in the heart of Coloma. We're a small-town studio in the best sense — a place where you'll be greeted by name, where nobody's judging your poses, and where the community on the mats feels a lot like the community outside our doors: friendly, down-to-earth, and glad you came.
Whether you are brand new to yoga or have stepped on the mat countless times, we welcome you to our community. We offer daily classes in a variety of styles, taught by experienced, caring teachers who meet you exactly where you are.
It is our hope that you'll find a class time, style, and teacher that brings you to your mat excited — and that you leave with whatever you came for, whether that's relaxation, stretching, strength, a reset, invigoration, or release.
You don't need to be flexible. You don't need special clothes or any experience at all. You just need to show up as you are — that's always been enough here, and it always will be.
We can't wait to practice with you.

COMMUNITY
I'll be the only beginner and everyone will be watching me.
Here's a secret: everyone in class is far too busy trying to remember which foot goes where to watch anybody else. And our teachers offer options for every pose, so you'll never be left guessing. Beginners are kind of our favorite people because it means we get to vicariously experience falling in love with yoga all over again as we watch your journey unfold.
I don't know anything about yoga.
Perfect — that means there's a use for us teachers! You don't need to know a downward dog from a regular dog to walk in the door. Our teachers explain everything as you go, in plain English, no Sanskrit pop quizzes.
I don't have the right clothes or gear.
If you can move in it, it counts. Leggings, sweatpants, that t-shirt from a 2009 fun run — all welcome. We have mats and props you can borrow, so really all you need to bring is yourself.
I'm too old / too out of shape / too [fill in the blank].
Yoga meets you where you are — that's the whole point. Slower classes, gentler classes, classes where you spend a good chunk of time under a weighted blanket (yes, really). If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
I'm not flexible AT ALL.
That's like saying you're too hungry to go to dinner. Flexibility isn't the price of admission — it's one of the things you might pick up along the way. And it changes day to day. Every single person in class started somewhere, and some of us still can't touch our toes on Mondays.
I haven't been to class forever.
The mat doesn't keep attendance, and neither do we — there's no penalty box for time away. Life gets full; that's exactly what yoga is for. Come back to the class you used to love or try something new, and we promise the only thing you'll hear from us is "it's so good to see you."
I tried it once and I didn't like it.
Fair! But one class is one teacher, one style, one day. That's like trying one song and deciding you don't like music. With daily classes in a bunch of different styles, odds are good there's a version of yoga that fits you — and we'd love to help you find it.
I'm just not a woo-woo yoga person.
Fair enough — and truth be told, we probably sound just a little bit woo-woo around here sometimes. But here's our promise: we'll never force it on you. Plenty of our regulars would never call themselves "yoga people" either. If a teacher offers an intention or a moment of stillness, you're free to take it, leave it, or spend that time thinking about lunch. Come for the stretching, the strength, and the hour to yourself. The rest is always optional.
"Absolutely love Katie’s classes! No matter what level your practice is or what kinks your body may be having, she guides you into each pose with a great flow. She encourages you to keep trying to reach your goal, if you can’t today you will eventually! "
-Betsy Walker
"I’ll have to say that over the past 18 or so years I’ve practiced yoga with many different instructors guiding me, but Katie is by far one of the most intuitive yogis that I’ve ever encountered. Katie connects with her students on a level that fosters a comfortable relationship. She is amazing and has definitely made me want to live a healthier, happier and fuller life!!"
-Lisa Stevens
"Katie’s classes are wonderful. I love her personal touch and the extra special way she treats everyone. I can’t say enough about how excited I was to find her. Her Yoga classes are challenging but yet doable and for my current level of fitness, she makes sure that I am comfortable but yet not feel intimated that I can’t do some of the poses the other people can do. I think that is why people don’t sign up for certain exercise classes. They don’t want to feel bad about themselves because they can’t do some things that other people can do. I have never felt that way in any of her classes. I also love her mediation class. I am new to the practice and she always has tips for us each class. I have learned so much and she is changing my life for the better no doubt. She is a real blessing."
-Jennifer Manning
"So I was lucky enough to end up in a class where I was the only one there and I have to say, Katie must have remembered that I had some previous lower back issues and customized the class accordingly! I enjoyed it so much I secretly hoped to be the only one there at the next visit! Seriously, private classes are extra special! "
-Ruby Branch
"I have never done yoga before. I decided to give it a try one weekend. I am hooked. I love everything about Katie, all her teachers and the studio. Everyone is kind and loving and I always feel better when I leave. Thank you. "

"Instructors and Instructions are good, beginners are always welcome. If your wife goes to yoga, you should too. The brief time I've been to practice my nerves are calmer, body and mind feeling better and helped while up north snowmobiling. Wasn't stiff or sore, but intentions helped before and after riding. "
-Dean Burby

"I was HOOKED my first class!! At 63, I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much. I could barely sit cross legged. It’s been 2 1/2 years and I’m still going 4-5 times a week. I feel so good. No more back pain, plantar fasciitis or sciatic pain. It’s also helped me calm my mind. My anxiety is gone. I sleep better. All the teachers are fantastic and instruct very well. Katie has a great library too with some wonderful books. I encourage that you try a class. You won’t regret it!!"
-Kris Carter

"Absolute treasure in the heart of Coloma! I love that we have the best yogis teaching in a beautiful studio. I look forward to every session here- and there are so many options based on level of experience. Some sessions involve intentional word cards, oils, and always mindfulness. There’s a lending library and materials (if you do not have your own mat, etc.). And the community feel is the best! Highly recommend checking them out!"
-Amy Oostdik
"Prior to this, all I knew about Yoga was the word Yoga and that they use a cute mat. You see, I was recently diagnosed with MS and in chronic pain for constant muscles spasms. I knew Yoga has helped people with MS and I am trying to take some holistic approach to my symptoms. When my best friend demanded I attend, although nervous, I went. I didn’t feel out of place or even like a newbie. I was able to move in all of the positions and even lasted the entire hour with only one 3 minute break (numb hands from nerve pain). I have been feeling great ever since and my only wish is that I lived closed to home so I could attend Katie’s classes more often so I could learn more. You must attend one of her classes!!"
-Heather Rhinehart
"She is awesome! I never thought I would be a "yoga" person but she made it approachable and now I love it!"
-Kelly Fritz
"No matter the ability level or flexibility level she makes it so you don’t feel like a failure if you can’t do something, yet! Katie fully believes in the power of the word yet and encourages others to believe that something is achievable."
-Carolyn Jefferson
"Absolutely love Katie’s classes. I can feel myself getting stronger physically with every class. And the meditation class...there are no words. You just have to try it for yourself."
-Rachel Edmonds

-Julia Richmond Du Plooy
